KalaCrochet is a Namibian clothing brand, which was established in 2019. It caters for crocheted items which are 100% hand crocheted, made from wool that is both locally found and imported from South-Africa. KalaCrochet garments are perfect for all seasons as the material used is finely chosen to fit the type of garment being created. The products are passionately made with love and with every stitch, the brand strives to keep its customers coming back for more. KalaCrochet is one brand that never compromises on the quality of its products: always giving the customer a product worth of their money.

Our History
KalaCrochet was established in November 2019. It started off as a small idea, a thing to just pass time. At the time, it only specialized in making simple bralettes and halter tops.
Beginning of 2020, it took a leap of faith and stepped into the business industry. It custom made clothing items as customers ordered and it never kept items in stock. It built its foundation in the saturated community of already well established businesses, which only served as motivation because if others have done it, so can KalaCrochet. The owner of the brand stood firm on the belief that “Everyone can crochet, but nobody can do it like KalaCrochet” and that hardened the foundation of the brand.
At the time, the business still operated from the owner’s bedroom.
Fast forward, KalaCrochet has received lots of orders from across the country. The social media following increased and the referrals “word of mouth”became what one would call “a dream come true”. Towards the end of the year, KalaCrochet made it to the Top 5 finalists of the first ever MTC Windhoek Fashion Week Fashion Pitch Night in collaboration with Launch Namibia. The brand scooped 2nd Place Prize and won really amazing gifts that have helped it grow.
In 2021, KalaCrochet became a registered business, operating as a sole proprietorship company and finally having moved out of the owners bedroom and into a stand alone working studio. And in 2022, it opened its first ever online store, where clients and new customers can purchase ready to wear items that are already in stock.
Now, KalaCrochet custom makes literally anything including picture portraits.
Wilhelmina Lumbu Kalapungame Iimene
Founder and owner of KalaCrochet. She is born on April 20th, 1998 and raised in Iikokola-Elombe in Oshikoto region. She attended junior primary at Amupapala Primary School and went to continue grade 3 to grade 7, at Lano Private School in Onayena. She attended high school at Oshigambo High School, where she matriculated from.
She studied at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English and Linguistics.
She is fun to be around, has a great personality, hard working and talented. She is a curious creative being, always keen on trying out new hobbies to fuel her many passions. She loves sports and now plays basketball. “My aspiration in life, is to be happy and filthy rich, so much so that I don’t look at price tags.”
